2020 Crafty Goals

Welcome to my 2020 crafty goals! For the last few years, I kept track of all my crafty goals as I thought it would be fun to see what progress I would make with each goal. Check out my 2019 results. The most surprising part was seeing how much yarn I used up in one year. It also helped me realize that I need to set more specific goals as some of mine were too broad.

For this year, I wanted to include some of the same crafty goals as last year, but also include some new 2020 crafty goals. There are certain things I want to work on in order to expand my little crochet business even more. These goals are in no particular order. Without further ado, here are my 2020 crafty goals!

2020 Crafty Goals #1: Make at least 10 YouTube Videos

I’m still relatively new to the whole YouTube world. Yes, I’ve watched countless hours of YouTube videos, but only started making videos recently. I thought it would be fun to share my crochet knowledge with others and teach others how to crochet. I know my videos may not be perfect, but if I keep working at it, I know I’ll be able to get better and not be so nervous.

This year, I want to make 10 YouTube videos. These videos will be a combination of beginner stitch tutorials as well as pattern tutorials.

Crafty Goals #2: Learn How to Sew

Last year I made it a goal to try and learn how to sew. I really want to learn how to make my own project bags among other things. However, I didn’t get around to accomplishing this goal last year.

This year, I’m hoping to have a little more time to dedicate to learning how to sew. I think this would be a wonderful new skill to learn as you can do so much with sewing.

Crafty Goals #3: Design More Crochet Patterns

For the past few years, I’ve been designing crochet patterns. I’m enjoying the process of seeing what I’m able to come up with as well as seeing what color combinations look nice together.

For this year, I would like to design at least 10 crochet patterns. There are so many different stitches out there that I would like to incorporate in different patterns. I can’t wait to see what I come up with!

Crafty Goals #4: Become More Familiar with my Cricut Machine

For Christmas, I decided to treat myself to a Cricut Explore Air 2. I’ve been obsessing over a Cricut machine for the past few years, and I finally decided it was time to purchase one. I ended up getting the mint everything-bundle off the Cricut website for a good deal.

There are so many wonderful things you can make with the Cricut that it might seem a little overwhelming at first. However, I want to make it a goal to become more familiar with it and learn just how much I can make with this.

For this year, I would like to make it a goal to complete at least 10 Cricut projects. I feel like I could use these projects to incorporate them into my crochet business, whether making business cards, price tags, and even some unique and fun projects. I can’t wait to see what I come up with!

Ongoing Crafty Goals

Work through My Yarn Stash

One of my goals for the last few years was to work through my yarn stash. After I finished projects, I had some yarn leftover that I didn’t know what to do with. Some of my yarn has been sitting on my shelf for a while, so I wanted to finally get around to using it.

I want to continue using up my leftover yarn and work from my stash as often as I can. The leftover yarn would be perfect to make different things for charity. It’s about time I show all my yarn some love and turn them into some amazing projects.

Last year, I ended up using 184 skeins of yarn, which equaled to about 58,889 yards. Let’s see how much yarn I’ll get through this year!

Create More, Worry Less

One of the things I’ve always struggled with was not creating things or working on patterns because I wasn’t sure what to do with it afterwards. A lot of the patterns I currently work on are patterns to restock my Etsy Shop or things I know could sell well at craft fairs. At times, I find myself staying away from making items (even the ones I LOVE) because I feel like it would be a waste to make the item and not know what to do with it afterwards.

This year, I would like to continue to break that way of thinking and crochet all the things! I, personally, may not need another blanket, but I can always give it to a friend, list it on Etsy, or donate to charity. This goes for other items I crochet as well. In the end, at least I’ll still be able to learn something new and even challenge myself at times.

This blanket is designed by Daisy Farm Crafts. It’s something I haven’t made before, but I’m glad I tried it out as it was both fun and challenging. I highly recommend this free pattern!
