Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the 3D Baby Blanket. This is also known as the Crystal Waves Blanket. This is a great beginner-friendly crochet pattern that has a similar texture to a corner-to-corner project. The 3D Baby Blanket consists of a one row repeat and can be made in a variety of different colors.

The 3D Baby Blanket is made using Hobby Lobby I Love this Yarn in the color Glacier. However, you can use any #4 worsted weight yarn you have in your yarn stash. I also used a size J-10 crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn (I used 2.5 skeins of Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn)
  • J-10 hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Size:

32×32

Notes:

  • If you want to change up the sizing of this blanket, you will need to work in multiples of 5.
  • Special stitch (FPSC): insert your hook from right to left underneath the dc (dc should be on top of your hook), yarn over hook and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

3D Baby Blanket Video Tutorial:

Pattern:

Ch 120 (or any multiple of 5)

Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook (3 skipped chs count as a dc), dc in next ch, *ch1 and skip 1 ch, 1dc in next 4chs. Repeat from * until you have 4chs left. Make 3dcs, and in that last ch make a sc. Ch3 and turn.

Row 2: 2dcs in sc from previous row, skip 2dcs and FPSC around last dc, ch3, 3dcs in ch1 space, *skip 3dc and FPSC around next dc, ch3, 3dcs in ch1 space. Repeat from * across. When you reach the end, skip 2dcs and make a sc in the top of the 3rd ch. Ch3 and turn.

Row 3: 2dc in sc, skip 2dcs and make a FPSC around last dc, ch3, 3dcs in ch3 space, *skip 2dcs and FPSC around last dc, ch3, 3dcs in ch3 space. Repeat from * across. Make a sc in the top of the 3ch. Ch3 and turn.

Repeat Row 3 until desired length. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
