Caron Cakes Yarn Review

Caron Cakes yarn has taken over the yarn community! Today I’ll be doing a yarn review on the new Caron Cakes yarn. I saw this yarn all over YouTube and different crafty websites, so I knew I had to get my hands on this yarn and try it out for myself!

caron cakes

Caron Cake is classified as a 4-worsted weight yarn. For crocheters, the recommended hook size is a 5mm H-8. For the knitters, the recommended needle size is a 5mm US 8. This yarn is made of 80% acrylic and 20% wool. Each cake of this is a total of 383 yards.

This yarn comes in 18 different beautiful shades with some clever names I might add.

Caron Cake is soft and very easy to work with. I enjoy the long color changes as it makes the project that more interesting. However, some people may not like the abrupt color changes throughout the yarn cake. While this yarn is soft (I LOVE soft yarn!), if you are highly allergic to wool or have sensitive skin, this may not be the yarn for you, so keep that in mind before you pick it up. The colors I picked up are in Bumbleberry (purple colors) and Lemon Lime (green colors). I’m sure I’ll pick up some more in the future, but I didn’t want to get ahead of myself and buy all the colors, especially not knowing if I would like this yarn or not. It is best to try it out first before investing a lot of money into something of this nature.

Ooooooh I must get my hands on some of this stuff! Every time I go to Michael’s to get some they only have like one or two colorways left. I can’t WAIT to see what you make with it!!! 😀

They were out of stock for a while due to its popularity. They just brought it back in stock last Saturday. You HAVE to pick up some of this yarn. I recommend Faerie Cake as it reminds me of Elsa.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
