Hey everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my corner-to-corner dishcloth pattern as part of my Crochet 101 series. This free pattern will help you learn how to make the corner-to-corner stitch while also completing a fun textured project. I hope you enjoy this free crochet dishcloth pattern.

For today’s tutorial, I’m using a Clover Amour Crochet Hook in size H-8. You can check out my review of these hooks here. I’m also using one skein of Peaches and Crème cotton yarn.

Please read below for the written corner-to-corner dishcloth pattern. For a beginner, I recommend sticking to a solid color cotton yarn for now until you get more practice. However, if you feel ready, go ahead and try a variegated color. You can even change colors and make a striped dishcloth. CORNER-TO-CORNER DISHCLOTH PATTERN

MATERIALS:

• H-8 crochet hook
• 1 skein of cotton yarn (I used Peaches and Crème cotton yarn)
• Scissors
• Tapestry Needle

FINISHED SIZE:

10 x 10 square

CORNER TO CORNER DISHCLOTH VIDEO TUTORIAL:

CORNER TO CORNER DISHCLOTH PATTERN:

To begin, you will need to chain 6.

In the 4^th chain from the hook, you will make a double crochet.

Next, make 1 double crochet in the remaining 2 chains. This completes your first box.

Next, chain 6 and turn your work.

In the 4^th chain from your hook, make 1 double crochet. Make 1 double crochet in the remaining 2 chains.

Next, slip stitch in that chain 3 space made in the previous row.

Chain 3, which counts as a double crochet, and make 3 more double crochets all in that chain 3 space. You will now have two boxes complete.

You will keep doing this over and over again until you reach 10 inches or your desired length. As you can see, your work grows very quickly using this method. However, you will eventually need to end your project, which is where the corner-to-corner decrease comes in.

CORNER-TO-CORNER DECREASE

In order to decrease, you will stop after making your final box in the row. Next, turn your work and work a slip stitch into the top of each double crochet and in the chain 3 space.

Chain 3 and work 3 double crochets into that space. Continue until you get to the other end of your project. You will do another decrease at the end of this row.

Once you start decreasing on both sides, your project will again go quickly. Once you’re finished, you will slip stitch to the final box and fasten off. Weave in your ends.

BORDER:

Chain 1 and work 1 single crochet in each stitch around dishcloth, working 3 single crochets in each corner. Slip stitch to beginning and cut yarn. Sew in tails.

To Finish: Leave at least 6 inches for your tail. Cut yarn. Yarn over your hook and pull through the last stitch of your row and tighten. To weave in all yarn ends, thread your yarn in your tapestry needle and go in between the stitches one way and back the other way. This will keep your project from coming apart.

You now have your very own corner-to-corner dishcloth! These make great gifts for family members, friends, or even yourself. However, these aren’t just for the kitchen. Make a bunch and pair it with some body wash and lotion for a sweet spa gift set.
