Crafty Goals for 2017

When it comes to January, I like to install some crafty goals for myself. This year is no different. While I didn’t really keep track of last year’s goals, I want to make more of a conscious effort in keeping track of them this year and updating you on my progress. These are in no particular order. So without further ado, here are my 2017 crafty goals!

GET ORGANIZED

This is the most important thing I want to accomplish this year for both my crafty goals and personal goals. I feel like I have a lot going on inside my brain, so I end up writing everything down and have post-it notes and pieces of paper everywhere. To help with that, I bought this planner off Amazon. I love this planner because it goes well with my business theme. Plus I’m a little obsessed with chevron prints. I also bought these pens to help make it a little more festive. I have already started writing down things I want to do. I’m very happy I purchased this planner as I feel like it will help keep everything together. I highly recommend picking up a planner!

Another thing is I want to stay organized with my yarn stash. I have a TON of yarn that I feel like is in my craft storage cubby…and in the closet…in bags…and in boxes. Eventually I would like to reorganize and rearrange some things my craft room so I can have my yarn all in one place in my craft storage cubby.  It might take a little bit of magic as I share this room with my two adorable bunnies. I also need to get some kind of wall shelving so I can put my Harry Potter Funko Pops on because, as you can see, it’s getting a little out of hand.

WORK FROM MY YARN STASH

As mentioned above, I have a TON of yarn, both open and unopened skeins, which I would like to use up. I went a little crazy as there seemed to be a lot of different end-of-the-year yarn sales. I know there are still big yarn sales going on now, but I’m pretending they don’t exist. Trust me—it’s hard to stay away. I would like to try and work from my yarn stash as much as possible. The exceptions would be:

♥Current and Future Etsy Collections-as many know, I have an Etsy Shop where I list my crocheted items. I try to keep enough of this yarn on hand in case I get orders. However, if I run out of yarn for past collections, I will purchase the colors I need to make sure I have enough on hand. For future collections, I will only purchase what I need to complete that collection.

♥Orders-if I get an order and don’t have that color in my stash already or if I need more of a certain color to finish an order.

♥Good Yarn Sales-the sales would have to be pretty spectacular in order for this to be an exception. However, if the sale is amazing or I have coupons that will work with sale items, I might consider purchasing yarn. I would have to have a specific project in mind, though.

KEEP UP WITH BLOG POSTS

When I first started my blog, I didn’t have any sort of a schedule. I would just post whenever I had a blog post written and it was ready to go. However, I soon learned that having a schedule is better as it helps me stay organized and my audience will know when I have new posts up. I usually have a list of future blog posts I want to write about, but I’m always happy to hear from my audience and see what they are interested in. If you have any crochet-related questions or suggestions for my blog, check out this post or leave a comment below.

DONATE TO CHARITY

This crafty goal will help with my previous goal of wanting to use up yarn from my stash. If I have opened skeins that I no longer need, I want to make them into a project that I can donate. I feel like this would be a great opportunity to use up more of my yarn stash as well as practice some different stitches. For this goal, I am going to specifically focus on Comfort for Critters as I would like to donate 100 pet beds this year. Last year, I more than reached my goal of 100 pet beds, so I don’t think it will be a problem this year.

TRY NEW CROCHET PATTERNS

I have been crocheting for about 11-12 years now, so I think it’s about time I branch out and start tackling some harder projects. I tend to get comfortable and stick with what I know, but I would like to test my skills out and see what I’m capable of doing. As I don’t want to get bored crocheting, I believe learning some new stitches, pattern techniques, etc. will help me become a better crocheter. I already have a list of crochet patterns I would like to try out.

DESIGN MY OWN CROCHET PATTERNS

I would like to branch out and try to design at least 1-2 of my own crochet patterns this year. I have a few simple designs in mind already. It’s just a matter of time where I have to write them up and take pictures. I’ve always been interested in this, so I think it’s worth exploring.

There are my crafty goals for 2017! At the end of the year, I will do a recap of my crafty goals and update you if I accomplished them or not.
