Hey everyone! Today I’m going to do a pattern review on the Crochet Chucky Doll. My husband Tony and I recently saw the new Child’s Play movie for his birthday. We’re both fans of the series, and I have to say that the new movie was AWESOME!!
For Tony’s birthday, he asked me if I could make him a crochet Chucky doll. I wasn’t going to turn that opportunity down! I searched around online and stumbled upon this free pattern by Tales of Twisted Fibers. Luckily enough, I had most of the supplies on hand and only had to purchase a few things. Read on to see what I thought of this pattern!
CROCHET CHUCKY DOLL REVIEW
Looking at this pattern, I knew it was going to be time consuming, but I knew that if I took my time it would come out awesome. This pattern includes pictures to help you along the way. The pattern is also broken down into sections, which helps me keep track of what needs to be worked on next. You basically start working on the crochet Chucky doll from the feet up, finishing with the head and hair.
With Chucky’s feet, you cut out a small piece of plastic canvas and insert it in the soles of his shoes. This helps to keep his feet balanced. At first, I didn’t have any plastic canvas, so I made his shoes without it. Chucky’s feet ended up becoming slanted and he wouldn’t stand up at all. By adding the plastic canvas, it really made a difference!

REVIEW (CONT.)This pattern is works up in continuous rounds, so a stitch marker is helpful. I haven’t made any stuffed animals or dolls in a very long time, so this took a little getting used to once again. Whenever I make something in the round, I typically slip stitch to the beginning and start a new round versus working in continuous rounds.
I do have to say that this pattern can be tedious at times, but it’s worth it if you take your time. I ended up crocheting this pattern in stages while crocheting other smaller projects in between. This helped me stay focused while working on this pattern instead of becoming frustrated.
I would have to say the most tedious parts of making the crochet Chucky doll were the boot cuffs and his hair. The boot cuffs require a tiny piece of yarn sewn on to make stripes. With Chucky’s hair, this required the maker using the loop stitch, which isn’t a terribly difficult stitch, but it was still a stitch I’ve never worked with before. After getting the hang of it, his hair became a little easier, however.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
Overall, if you’re a horror fan or know of a horror fan, this crochet Chucky doll is something to explore. This pattern is rated as an intermediate pattern with lots of patience required. I’m sure the recipient will be excited to receive this crochet Chucky doll as a gift, especially if they’re fans of the series.
I’m glad I tried this pattern out, and my husband is THRILLED with the result. I kept showing him progress on the doll and he was smiling every time. It’s one of his favorite birthday gifts this year.
