Do You Listen to Audio Books or Music While You Crochet?

audio books or music

When I crochet, I don’t listen to audio books or music. If I’m working on a project that requires my concentration, I need it to be quiet until I get the hang of the pattern. Instead, I crochet while “watching” TV shows, movies, football games, and even YouTube videos. I say “watch” because I’m more listening to what’s going on rather than giving it my full attention. If I have the pattern repeat memorized, I’m able to watch TV and crochet at the same time. I’m not really much of an audio book person, so I’m not sure if I would give this a try while crocheting a project. I still love the feel of a book in my hands before bed or during the afternoon.

I’m very good at multi-tasking. I like to give my favorite football team my full attention when they are on, but with so many commercials, I like to sneak in a few rows here and there. If there is a movie I’m really interested in, I’ll also maybe put crochet away and focus on the movie a little bit more. There is background noise and there is also stuff that forces me to put my crochet down. I’d like to add more music to my crocheting as I feel as though it will pump me up and keep me motivated.

Now I’m going to ask you: Do you listen to audio books or music while you crochet? Let me know by leaving me a comment.

I’m a lot like you, actually! 🙂 If I have a pattern memorized and it is simple, I can watch TV or listen to audio books whilst I do it. 🙂 If it’s a complex pattern, along with a hard-to-follow show (like a mystery), that’s when I get into trouble. 😉

Lol I know what you mean. I’ve been working on a chevron stripe blanket, which I’ve made plenty of times. Normally after the first few rows I have the pattern memorized. There has been a few times where I’ve had to frog a few rows because I noticed I didn’t pay attention and actually missed some stitches on the end. Whoops!

Well since I don’t know how to read patterns, I’m 100% a wing-it girl! I figure it out as I go.

I wish I were able to wing-it more often! I want to be able to design my own patterns someday, but I’m not quite there yet. You’re lucky!

If its an easy pattern I sometimes listen to music if no one else is around. Otherwise my husband or kids have the TV on and I zone into my own little crochet world.

Haha I know what you mean about being in the crochet zone. Sometimes I’m so focused on my project that my boyfriend will talk to me and I would have no idea what he just said LOL.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
