Granny Square Baby Blanket

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Granny Square Baby Blanket. This blanket was requested by a number of viewers on my YouTube channel, so I thought I would make an easy pattern to follow along! I decided to make versions of this granny square blanket, one solid color version and one striped version.

For the Granny Square Baby Blanket, I used Caron Simply Soft yarn. Feel free to change the colors up to make it your own. I also used a size H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

GRANNY SQUARE BABY BLANKET

Materials:

  • Caron Simply Soft Yarn
    • Solid Blanket: 3 skeins of Sunshine
    • Striped Blanket: 2 skeins of Country Blue (main color), 1 skein each of Off White and Soft Blue
  • H-8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Size:

31 x 31 square

Notes:

  • After each round, you will turn your blanket. This helps to keep things straight and your granny square blanket from slanting.
  • You will make a chain 2 in each corner of the blanket. For each of the sides, you will make a chain 1 in between the stitches.
  • If you do not know how to make a magic circle, you can chain 4, slip stitch in first chain made to form a loop, chain 3 and work inside the loop for your first round

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
