Granny Stripe Baby Boy Blanket

Hey everyone! My older sister is having a baby boy in July. Of course, being the crocheter and all, I decided I wanted to make her a baby blanket. I went back and forth on a few designs, looked at Pinterest for inspiration, and finally decided on a pattern. I’m so excited to share this granny stripe baby boy blanket pattern with you!

I really like how the granny stripe works up as it’s a simple stitch that you can work on while watching TV. If you’re interested, I have a crochet tutorial on how to make the granny stripe, which you can check out here. I used 2 skeins each of Caron Simply Soft for this blanket in the colors soft blue, white, and heather gray. You can check out my review of this yarn here. You will also need a size H-8 crochet hook, a tapestry needle, and scissors. I am using my all-time favorite crochet hooks, Clover Amour, which you can check out here. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

GRANNY STRIPE  BABY BOY BLANKET

Materials:

Finished Size:

37×40

Pattern:

Chain 133 (or any multiple of 3+1)

Row 1: Make 2dcs in the 4th chain from your hook. *Skip 2 chains and make 3dcs into the next chain. Repeat from * until the end. You should have 3dcs in the very last chain. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 2: Make 3dcs in the first space in between the dc clusters. *Skip the 3dcs and make 3dcs in the next space. Repeat from * to the end of the row. When you reach the final 3dcs, you will make 1dc into the top of the turning chain. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 3: Make 2dcs into the very first space (chain 3 counts as a dc). *Skip over to the next space and make 3dcs. Repeat from * to the end of your row. You will have 3dcs in the very last space. Chain 3 and turn.

You will repeat rows 2 and 3 over and over until your desired length. I did a total of 6 rows of each color. I did the following for my granny stripe baby boy blanket:

6 stripes of soft blue

5 stripes of white

5 stripes of heather gray

Border:

Row 1: Using heather gray, chain 1 and make a sc evenly around entire blanket. Make sure to do 3scs in each corner. Slip stitch to beginning. Fasten off heather gray.

Row 2: Using white, chain 2 and make 4hdc into the first stitch. Next, *Skip next stitch, sc in next stitch, skip next stitch, 4hdc in next stitch. Repeat from * all the way around your blanket. Join with slip stitch to beginning. Fasten off and weave in all your ends.

This completes my granny stripe baby boy blanket. Feel free to change up the color sequence as you wish. When making a granny stripe blanket, there are endless amounts of color options available. I can’t wait to give this baby blanket to my sister at her baby shower in June!

I hope you enjoyed this granny stripe baby boy blanket!
