Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Granny Stripe Scarf. This is a great beginner-friendly crochet pattern using beginner stitches. The Granny Stripe Scarf consists of a two row repeat and can be made in a variety of different colors. You can even use a self-striping yarn like I did!

The Granny Stripe Scarf is made using Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton. However, you can use any yarn you have in your yarn stash. I also used a size H-8 (5mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

MATERIALS:

  • H-8 (5mm) crochet hook
  • 1 cake of Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton (335yd/142g)
  • Scissors

  • Tapestry needle

FINISHED SIZE:

8W x 44L

NOTES:

  • To change the width of your scarf, you will make a chain in a multiple of 3+1. This means you will multiple any number by 3. Once you have your desired width, you will add 1 more chain to the very end.
  • The chain 3 at the beginning of each row counts as your first double crochet.
  • You will be working in between the cluster stitches in each row.

CH 31

Row 1: 2 DC in the 4th CH from your hook. *Skip 2 CH and make 3 DC into the next CH. Repeat from * until the end. You should have 3 DC in the very last CH. CH 3 and turn.

Row 2: 3 DC in the first space in between the DC clusters. *Skip the 3 DC and make 3 DC in the next space. Repeat from * to the end of the row. When you reach the final 3 DC, you will make 1 DC in between the 2 DC and the CH-3 space. CH 3 and turn.

Row 3: 2 DC into the very first space. *Skip over to the next space and make 3 DC. Repeat from * to the end of your row. You will have 3 DC in the very last space. CH 3 and turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 over and over until your desired length. I ended up using one full skein, which was a total of 97 rows for my scarf.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
