Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Griddle Stitch Dishcloth. This is going to be part of my Dishcloth Series, where every Saturday in June I’ll be sharing a new dishcloth pattern. The Griddle Stitch Dishcloth is a great beginner-friendly crochet pattern that can be made in a variety of colors or even just a solid color.

The Griddle Stitch Dishcloth is made using Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton in White. However, you can use any cotton yarn you have in your yarn stash. This dishcloth is great to use up leftover yarn. I also used a size H-8 crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Materials:

  • (1) skein of I Love This Cotton in White
  • H-8 crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

Notes:

  • You can change up the sizing of this dishcloth by making an odd number of chains.
  • You will always dc into a sc and sc into a dc.

Video Tutorial:

Pattern:

Ch 33

Row 1: sc in the 2nd ch from hook, dc in the next ch. Alternate between sc and dc across the entire row. You will end with a dc in the last ch. Ch1 and turn.

Row 2: sc into the dc from previous row, dc in next sc stitch. Alternate stitches across the row, ending with a dc in the last stitch. Ch1 and turn.

Rows 3-up: Repeat Row 2 until your dishcloth measures 11 inches. If making a border, continue to border section. Otherwise, cut yarn and weave in your ends.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
