Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Houndstooth Scarf. I wanted to make something fun for the winter season, especially with those chilly days ahead. The Houndstooth Scarf is an advanced beginner pattern and is a one-row repeat pattern.

For the Houndstooth Scarf, I used #4 worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors. This really makes the houndstooth pattern stand out. I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, however, you can use any worsted weight yarn you’d like. I also used a size J-10 (6.0mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Materials:

  • (1) skein each of Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in White and Graymist
  • J-10 (6.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Size:

7 inches wide x 64 inches long

Notes:

  • Chain 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.
  • To adjust the width of your scarf, you will make more or less rows.
  • To adjust the length of your scarf, you will make more or less chains. Your chain should be an odd number.
  • You will always double crochet into a single crochet and single crochet into a double crochet.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
