Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing my newest crochet pattern, the Lilac Dreams Baby Blanket. This super soft, handmade baby blanket is made using beginner stitches with a fun ribbed border. It is the perfect baby afghan for a newborn baby and would also be an excellent baby shower gift that would be treasured for years to come.

For the Lilac Dreams Baby Blanket, I used Premier Anti-Pilling DK. However, you can use whatever #3 light-weight yarn you’d like. I also used a size H-8 (5.0mm) crochet hook. I highly recommend using my favorite crochet hooks, Clover Amour. You will also need a tapestry needle and a pair of scissors. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

BORDER

Round 1 CH 1, do not turn.

SIDES: SC evenly along the sides of your blanket

CORNERS: 3 SC in each corner

TOP/BOTTOM: SC in each stitch across

Make your final corner and SL ST to beginning of the round. CH 2, do not turn.

Round 2: CH 2, do not turn. DC in each stitch around. For each corner, work 9 DC into the center of the 3 SC from the previous round. Before closing your round, be sure to count your stitches. You will need to have an odd number of stitches. If you have an even number, add 1 DC in the last stitch. SL ST to beginning. (NOTE: Your corners may “balloon” out, but that will be fixed as the border grows).

Round 3: CH 2, do not turn. FPDC around the first DC, BPDC around the next DC. Repeat around entire blanket alternating FPDC and BPDC. SL ST to beginning FPDC.

Round 4: CH 2, do not turn. FPDC around the FPDC from the previous row, BPDC around the BPDC from the previous row. Repeat around entire blanket. SL ST to beginning FPDC. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
