Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing my newest crochet pattern, the Mermaid Stripes Baby Blanket. This handmade baby blanket is made using beginner stitches. If you like making the Candy Stripe Baby Blanket, this blanket is just for you! It is the perfect baby afghan for a newborn baby and would also be an excellent baby shower gift that would be treasured for years to come.

For the Mermaid Stripes Baby Blanket, I used Premier Basix and Red Heart Bitty Stripes. However, you can use whatever #3 light-weight yarn you’d like. I also used a size H-8 (5.0mm) crochet hook. I highly recommend using my favorite crochet hooks, Clover Amour. You will also need a tapestry needle and a pair of scissors. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Materials:

  • (2) skeins of Premier Basix in White
  • I-9 (5.5mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle

34 x 30

Notes:

  • You can change up this blanket to be any size you’d like. Just note that if you make this blanket bigger, you will need more yarn.
  • To change up the sizing of this blanket, you will need a multiple of 3. Once satisfied with your width, you will add 1 more chain to the end.
  • You will change colors every 4 rows.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
