Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Merry Berry Dishcloth. If you like to crochet on-the-go, small, repetitive projects are the perfect pattern choice. There’s nothing quite like a crochet project that can be finished quickly. These dishcloths not only work up quickly, but would be perfect for the upcoming holiday season!
For the Merry Berry Dishcloth, I used #4 worsted weight cotton yarn. I used Knitpicks Dishie and Knitpicks Dishie Twist, however, you can use any cotton yarn you’d like. I also used a size I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!
MERRY BERRY DISHCLOTH
Materials:
- 1 skein of 100% cotton yarn (I used Knitpicks Dishie and Knitpicks Dishie Twist)
- I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Size:
9” diameter dishcloth
Notes:
- Join with a slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
- The chain 2 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.
- Do not turn after each round. You will work in a continuous round.
Special Stitch:
SHELL STITCH
(SC, CH 3, SC) in indicated stitch or space

Merry Berry Dishcloth Pattern:
Make a Magic Circle with your choice of color, CH 2
Round 1 12 DC in Magic Circle, pull tail to close up circle, SL ST to beginning DC. CH 2 (12 DC)
Round 2 2 DC in first stitch and in each stitch around, SL ST to beginning DC. CH 2 (24 DC)
Round 3 *DC in first stitch, 2 DC in next stitch. Repeat from * around, SL ST to beginning DC. CH 2 (36 DC)
Round 4 *DC in first stitch, 2 DC in next two stitches. Repeat from * around, SL ST to beginning DC. CH 2 (60 DC)
Round 5 DC in first stitch, DC in next 3 stitches, *2 DC in next stitch, 1 DC in next four stitches. Repeat from * around, SL ST to beginning DC. CH 1
(If you are changing color, fasten off and change to new color after Round 5)
Border
Round 1 CH 1, shell in first DC, *skip next stitch, shell in next DC. Repeat from * around, SL ST in first SC. CH 1 (36 shells)
Rounds 2-3 SL ST in CH-3 space, CH 1, *shell in CH-3 space. Repeat from * around working in the shell spaces from the previous rounds. SL ST to beginning SC. CH 1. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
