Moss Stitch Hot Pad

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my newest crochet pattern, the Moss Stitch Hot Pad. These hot pads work up quickly, making them a beginner-friendly pattern. You will use two basic stitches and two strands of cotton yarn held together to create this double thick hot pad. Crochet a few of these for gift giving, craft fairs, or even use them in your own kitchen! They’re not only beautiful with the fun textured design, but they’re also practical and useful around the kitchen.

If you’d like to complete the set, you can check out my Moss Stitch Dishcloth pattern!

The Moss Stitch Hot Pad is made using Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton. However, you can use any cotton yarn you have in your yarn stash. You will use two strands held together, so the color possibilities are endless! I also used a size K-10.5 (6.5mm) crochet hook. My favorite crochet hooks to use are the Clover Amour. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

NOTES:

  • To change the width of this hot pad, you will chain an even number of chains.
  • You will alternate between a slip stitch and a half double crochet to get the textured look.
  • Work slip stitches loosely especially the first and last one of each row to ensure your piece doesn’t cinch at the ends.
  • You will hold two strands of cotton yarn together for a double thick hot pad.

If you would like to purchase an ad-free version of this pattern, you can do so here.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
