Fall is upon us! That’s why I thought my newest pattern, the Rustic Striped Blanket, was perfect. This is a new to me yarn that I wanted to try out, so why not use it in a blanket?

This blanket can be easily adjusted to be bigger or smaller. Likewise, this can be made in a solid color or as many different colors as you’d like.

This is a beginner-friendly pattern, but you do need to know the basics of crochet in order to make this pattern. Check out my tutorials of the different stitches needed for this blanket:

  • Chain
  • Single Crochet
  • Double Crochet

Let’s continue onto the pattern!

NOTE:

  • You will be alternating a single crochet stitch and a double crochet stitch for this blanket.
  • You will always make a single crochet into the double crochet from the previous row. Likewise, you will always make a double crochet into the single crochet from the previous row.
  • Each row should start with a single crochet and end with a double crochet.
  • All your color changes will happen on one side of your blanket.

PATTERN:

Chain 95 (or any odd number) in tan (Sugared Oats)

Row 1: Single crochet into the 2nd chain from your hook, double crochet into the next chain. You will alternate single crochet and double crochet stitches across the entire row. In the final row, you should always have a double crochet. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 2: Single crochet into the very first stitch (double crochet) from the previous row, double crochet into the next single crochet stitch. Alternate single crochet and double crochet stitches across the entire row. Chain 1 and turn.

Repeat row 2 until desired length.

Here is the color sequence that I made for the Rustic Stripe Blanket:

BORDER:

I made a single crochet border all around my Rustic Striped Blanket. I made the border in the tan color and made 3 single crochets in each corner. I then slip stitched to the beginning and wove in all my ends.

I hope you enjoyed my Rustic Striped Blanket pattern. The alternating single crochet and double crochet stitches might take a little bit to get used to, but once you do, you will enjoy the process just as much as I did.

What colors would you use for this blanket? Let me know in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you!

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since.
