What Kind of Crocheter Are You?

Do You Like to Follow a Pattern Exactly as it’s Written? Do You Like to “Wing it” and Make Things Up as You Go? Are You a Little Bit of Both?

When it comes time to answering what kind of crocheter are you, I would say that I am a little bit of both depending on what I’m working on at that particular moment. More often than not though, I need some kind of pattern to work of off in order to understand what the finished project will look like. I’m always in search of the next pattern (I’m a little bit of a pattern hoarder), and I like to see what other people come up with before I begin. I can never have enough patterns in my possession!

However, I do like to “wing it” when it comes to simple patterns. I crochet for charity sometimes, so I’ll make up a simple pattern. If I’m making a pet mat, I make one large double crochet square and I’m done. Sometimes, to change it up, I’ll work in the back loop only to give a nice ridge effect. It’s the same if I’m making dishcloths. I usually have a simple pattern in mind when I make them.

I am also considering trying to design my own patterns at some point, as I’m confident this will help with my creativity. Experimenting with different color combinations and being able to come up with different stitches in my own patterns is interesting to me. I have a lot of ideas swirling around in my head at the moment, but somewhere down the line I plan to experiment with creating my own crochet patterns.

Now I’m going to ask you the same question: What kind of crocheter are you? Leave a comment and tell me all about it. I’d love to hear from you!

I wish I could work without patterns. I would eventually like to design my own patterns but my creativity hasn’t reached that point yet. For now I definitely need a well written pattern or in depth video to follow.

That’s exactly how I am. I would love to design some of my own patterns, but I feel like I’m not at that level yet. Maybe someday…

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
