Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing my newest crochet pattern, the Winter Shell Baby Blanket. This super soft, handmade baby blanket is crocheted in a shell pattern and has a wonderful texture. It is the perfect baby afghan for a newborn baby and would also be an excellent baby shower gift that would be treasured for years to come.

For the Winter Shell Baby Blanket, I used Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted. However, you can use whatever #4 worsted weight yarn you’d like. I also used a size I-9 (5.5mm) crochet hook. I highly recommend using my favorite crochet hooks, Clover Amour. You will also need a tapestry needle and a pair of scissors. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Materials:

  • (3) skeins each of Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted Yarn in Spa and Cream
  • (2) skeins of Chinchilla
  • I-9 (5.5mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Size:

34×43

Notes:

  • This blanket is worked in a multiple of 6 plus 2. This means you will multiple any number by 6 to get your desired width. Once satisfied, you will add 2 chains to the very end to keep everything in balance.

  • Shell stitches consists of 5 double crochets worked into the same stitch.

  • Chain 3 counts as a double crochet.

Amanda

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda, the crochet addict behind-the-scenes. I was always interested in crafting and being creative. One day I decided to learn how to crochet. I was instantly drawn to crochet and thought it was incredible how you could make something out of yarn and a hook. I guess you can say I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since. Feel free to email me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com with any questions.
