Hey everyone! Today I’m going to review the Briar Rose Blanket made by Jennifer of Fiber Flux. When I first saw this blanket, I immediately fell in love with it and knew I had to pick up the yarn and make it myself. You can read my review of the yarn used here. After finally finding the yarn at my local Joann Fabrics store months later, I knew I had to begin making this beautiful blanket.

I picked up the same color yarn as used in the original blanket, which is the Anemone color. For this pattern, I needed 2 skeins of Red Heart Super Saver Ombre, but I ended up picking up 4 skeins of the same color as it was just so pretty. I also bought a few extra skeins just in case I wanted to make this blanket bigger. However, I ended up making the blanket exactly as shown in the original and used a little less than 2 skeins.

I fell in love with this Briar Rose Blanket because I loved the lacy look of it. I always enjoy making a shell or fan type of blanket, so it’s easy to see why I gravitated towards this one. The pattern called for 2 skeins of Red Heart Super Saver Ombre and a size J-6.0mm crochet hook.  Immediately I began working on this blanket.

I was able to complete this blanket in two days. By working with this bigger hook and using this type of stitch, I found the blanket to work up quickly. I enjoyed every minute of this blanket and can’t wait to get started on another one, but in a different color. The gradient color of this yarn is just so pretty! I made this blanket 36”x36” as shown in the original design. However, Jennifer gives you a sizing chart, so you’re able to change up the multiples to make the blanket as big as you would like.

As far as washing this blanket, it is 100% acrylic, which means it’s machine washable and dryable. After putting it through the cycle, this blanket came out even softer! The colors were still vibrant after washing, so there’s no issue with the colors fading. This blanket would make a great gift for an upcoming baby shower. This yarn is also a great candidate for charity crocheting/knitting.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Briar Rose Blanket pattern as the instructions were well written and easy to understand and follow. The tonal effect of this yarn shows off the stitches beautifully. I’m sure it would look beautiful in any of the other Red Heart Super Saver Ombre colors. Again, I enjoyed making this blanket so much that it only took me two days to complete it. I can definitely see myself making this blanket again in the future!
