Hey everyone! Today I’ll be sharing with you my grit stitch dishcloth pattern. This free pattern will help you learn how to make a double crochet stitch and a single crochet stitch while also completing a beginner project. These dishcloths would look great in a lot of different colors, so gather your supplies and let’s begin! I hope you enjoy this grit stitch dishcloth pattern!

GRIT STITCH DISHCLOTH PATTERN

MATERIALS:

• H-8 Hook (I’m using Clover Amour)
• Cotton yarn (I’m using Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in Salt and Pepper Print)
• Scissors
• Tapestry Needle

PATTERN:

Chain 35 or a multiple of 2+1

ROW 1: dc in 3^rd chain from hook (the 2 skipped chains count as 1 sc) *skip next chain, work 1 sc and 1 dc in next chain. Repeat from * until two stitches remain. Skip next chain and work 1 sc into the last chain and turn.

ROW 2: Chain 1 (counts as 1 sc), work 1 dc into the 1^st stitch

*skip next stitch, work 1 sc and 1 dc into the next stitch. Repeat from * across until 2 stitches remain. Skip next stitch and work 1 sc into the top of the turning chain, turn.

ROWS 3-23: Repeat row 2 until your work measures 10” or until desired length.

BORDER: Chain 1 and turn. Make 1 sc in each stitch around entire dishcloth making sure to put 3 scs into each corner. Join with a sl st. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

You now have your very own grit stitch dishcloth! These make great gifts for family members, friends, or even yourself. Make a bunch in some bright summer colors.
