Lion Brand Hometown USA Yarn Review

Today I’m going to review Lion Brand Hometown USA. Just like the name states, Lion Brand Hometown USA is made in the USA and comes in a variety of bright, primary colors, variegated colors, and also textural tweed colors. You can easily find colors that match your favorite sports team.

This yarn is classified as a #6-super bulky weight yarn, which makes it perfect for winter projects. Each solid skein is a total of 5 oz. while the variegated and tweed colors are a total of 4 oz. This yarn is 100% acrylic, which makes it easy to care for as it’s machine washable and dryable. The recommended hook size for the crocheters out there is a size N-13 while the recommended needle size for the knitters is a size US 13.

I enjoy working with this yarn because of its softness. It’s a very plush yarn, which makes working on projects go by quickly. I enjoy the different colors in this collection and find it clever that most of them are named after different cities in the USA. Again, I enjoy working with this yarn when making hats, scarves, and cowls for the cold winter months as it provides a lot of warmth. Even though Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn is classified as a bulky weight yarn, I don’t feel as if it’ll be too heavy and weigh you down.

Overall, I think Lion Brand Hometown USA is a great yarn to work with as the end result is beautiful. I really like the softness this yarn provides and the range of different color options. This yarn would make a great candidate for charity projects. However, when washing and drying this yarn multiple times, it tends to become a little fuzzy over time, so that’s something to consider. I still enjoy working with it though, so I do recommend giving it a try and seeing what you think.
