Lion Brand Pound of Love Yarn Review

Hey everyone! Today’s yarn review is going to be on Lion Brand Pound of Love. I’ve been interested in trying this yarn out for a while now, so I thought what better opportunity than now!

As the name suggestions, this is one pound of yarn, which makes it an economical choice if you plan on making a blanket. This is classified as a worsted weight yarn that comes in a variety of baby colors. It is also 100% acrylic, which makes it a perfect candidate for a variety of projects as it’s machine washable. Lion Brand Pound of Love is a total of 16oz or 1,020 yards. For the crocheters out there, the recommended hook size is a J-10, while the recommended needle size for knitters is a US 8.

When looking at the different colors, I chose Creamsicle, which is a beautiful tangerine color. I normally would choose a pink or blue color, but I wanted to try something different. When I first picked it up, I could feel its softness. I knew I was going to make a baby blanket, but since I’ve never used this yarn before, I only picked up one skein of it.

Normally with skeins, I like to pull from the center. Lion Brand Pound of Love was no exception. I’ve read reviews online where some people have tried this only to get a tangled mess. Thankfully, I haven’t experienced that and have been able to pull from the center without any problems. While working on my blanket, I noticed that this yarn isn’t as soft as I would like it to be. In fact, it can be a little scratchy at times. Another thing I noticed is that the yarn seems to have an overall fuzzy look to it. As I’m working my stitches, my project is starting to look like I’ve frogged it many times and have reused the yarn until I was satisfied with it. I’m hoping once I finish this blanket and wash it that it will come out softer.

After washing this blanket, it did come out softer, but I still feel like it’s too fuzzy for my liking. Some people might not mind the halo/fuzzy effect this yarn gives off, but it’s just not for me. While I do think this yarn is economical for larger projects, or for a bunch of smaller projects, I won’t be buying anymore of it.
