Puff Stitch Baby Blanket

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing my newest crochet pattern, the Puff Stitch Baby Blanket. I’m really happy with how this blanket turned out, and I hope you enjoy it as well. This blanket is easy enough for beginners to make as it consists of a one row repeat. I also included a pretty ribbed border around the blanket, incorporating the two colors together. It’s absolutely stunning!

The Puff Stitch Baby Blanket is made using worsted weight yarn in two different colors. However, this blanket would be pretty in just about every color combination out there. You can also make this blanket in a solid color, too. The possibilities are truly endless!

If you end up making this blanket, please share your finished product by tagging me on Instagram using the hashtag #amandacrochets. I’d love to see what other colors you come up with for inspiration!

For the Puff Stitch Baby Blanket, I used Caron Simply Soft in White and Soft Blue. However, you can use whatever #4 worsted weight yarn you’d like. I also used a size H-8 (5.0mm) crochet hook. I highly recommend using my favorite crochet hooks, Clover Amour. You will also need a tapestry needle and a pair of scissors. Gather your supplies and let’s begin!

Puff Stitch Baby Blanket

Materials:

Size:

34×39 without border

36×42 with border

Notes:

  • To change the size of your blanket, you will make a chain of a multiple of 4 plus 2. This means you will multiply any number by 4 to get your desired width. Once satisfied, you will add 2 more chains to the very end.
  • You will work whatever is in parenthesis into the same chain or space.
  • The chain 3 at the beginning of each row counts as a double crochet.

Special Stitch:

DC3TOG- Yarn over, insert hook in stitch, pull up a loop, 3 loops on hook. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook. Then, yarn over insert in same stitch, pull up a loop, 4 loops on hook. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook, 3 loops remain.  Next, yarn over, insert hook in same stitch.  Yarn over, pull up a loop, 5 loops remain. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops, 4 loops left on hook. Finally, yarn over pull through all 4 loops on hook.
