Single Crochet Coaster Pattern

Hey everyone! Today I’ll be sharing with you my very own single crochet coaster pattern as part of my Crochet 101 series. This free crochet pattern will help you learn how to make a single crochet stitch while also completing a beginner project. This coaster pattern is great if you want to make something quick. This crochet coaster also makes a great gift for friends and family or even for yourself. I hope you enjoy this free single crochet coaster pattern.

If you have missed any previous beginner crochet lessons, be sure to check out my Crochet 101 series here.

Please see below for the written pattern. For a beginner, I recommend sticking to a solid color cotton yarn for now until you get more practice. However, if you feel ready, go ahead and try a variegated color.

SINGLE CROCHET COASTER PATTERN

Materials:

Pattern:

Begin by making a slip knot. Chain 13.

ROW 1: Single crochet into 2nd chain from your hook. Single crochet into each stitch across. Chain 1 and turn. (12 stitches)

ROW 2: Single crochet into the first single crochet of the previous row. Make sure to go through both loops. Chain 1 and turn.

ROWS 3-14: Repeat Row 2.

BORDER: Chain 1 and turn. Single crochet all the way around your coaster making sure to put 3 single crochets into each of the four corners.

To Finish: Leave at least 6 inches for your tail. Cut yarn. Yarn over your hook and pull through the last stitch of your row and tighten. To weave in all yarn ends, thread your yarn in your tapestry needle and go in between the stitches one way and back the other way. This will help keep your project from coming apart. See pictures below on how to weave in your ends.

You now have your very own single crochet coaster! These make great gifts for family members, friends, or even yourself. Make a couple a spread them throughout your house.

I hope you enjoyed my single crochet coaster pattern. Stay tuned until next Saturday where I will teach you how to make a half double crochet stitch.
