Double Crochet Dishcloth Pattern

Hey everyone! Today I’ll be sharing with you my very own double crochet dishcloth pattern as part of my Crochet 101 series. This free pattern will help you learn how to make a double crochet stitch while also completing a beginner project. I hope you enjoy this free double crochet dishcloth pattern.

Please read below for the written pattern. For a beginner, I recommend sticking to a solid color cotton yarn for now until you get more practice. However, if you feel ready, go ahead and try a variegated color.

DOUBLE CROCHET DISHCLOTH PATTERN

MATERIALS:

SIZE:

10×8

DOUBLE CROCHET DISHCLOTH PATTERN:

Chain 33. Double crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each stitch across. Chain 2 and turn. (32 total)

ROW 1: Double crochet in 2nd stitch and in each stitch across. Chain 2 and turn.

ROWS 2-15: Repeat row 1. DO NOT bind off after your final row.

BORDER:

Chain 1 and work 1 single crochet in each stitch around dishcloth, working 3 single crochets in each corner. Slip stitch to beginning and cut yarn. Sew in tails.

To Finish: Leave at least 6 inches for your tail. Cut yarn. Yarn over your hook and pull through the last stitch of your row and tighten. To weave in all yarn ends, thread your yarn in your tapestry needle and go in between the stitches one way and back the other way. This will help keep your project from coming apart. See pictures below on how to weave in your ends.

You now have your very own double crochet dishcloth! These make great gifts for family members, friends, or even yourself. These aren’t just for the kitchen. Make a bunch and pair it with some body wash and lotion for a sweet spa gift set.

I hope you enjoyed my double crochet dishcloth pattern. Stay tuned until next Saturday where I will teach you how to make a triple crochet stitch.
