Spring Banner Pattern

Spring is in the air! I decided to make this spring banner pattern that is perfect for this occasion. This is a quick project that you can use to decorate your house for the season or to give to a loved one. This is also a great project to use up some of your stash.

For today’s tutorial, you will need worsted weight yarn (I’m also using some cotton yarn) and two different crochet hooks: H-8 and F-5 (I’m using Clover Amour). Feel free to use whatever yarn you have in your stash like I did. This is a great stashbuster project! You can also change colors to achieve the look you’re going for. To learn how to change colors, please visit this tutorial. Gather up your supplies and let’s begin!

SPRING BANNER PATTERN

Materials:

  • H-8 crochet hook and F-5 crochet hook (I used Clover Amour)
  • Worsted weight yarn and cotton yarn (or whatever you have in your stash)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Banner Pattern (make 6):

With H-8 hook and white, chain 17.

Rows 1-12: Sc in each stitch across. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 13-19: Sc decrease at the beginning of each row, sc across, sc decrease at beginning of each row. Chain 1 and turn. You should have 2 stitches left on row 19. Sc decrease and fasten off.

Border: Using a different color other than white, sc around banner making sure to put 2 scs in each corner. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Banner Band:

Row 1: With H-8 hook and white, chain 10 and make a sc in the 2nd chain from hook and in each stitch across. Continue to sc across the top of each banner. At the end, chain 10 and sc into 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across. Slip stitch to banner. Fasten off.

Row 2: Starting with new color, sc in stitch across. Fasten off.

Row 3: With white, repeat row 2. Fasten off and weave in ends.

I wanted to have the word ‘spring’ on my banner, so I used Moogly’s crochet alphabet to achieve this. I used a size F-5 crochet hook in order to make the letters small enough to fit inside each banner. Click here for the link to the crochet alphabet.

That completes the spring banner pattern! I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial on my spring banner pattern. Feel free to change up the colors in this banner to fit your style needs. You can choose to add the lettering or not or even make more banners to say “Happy Easter” or “Happy Spring” on them. It’s really up to you and what you’d like to do.
